Letters to Emily Holcombe, 1899.

Letters sent to Emily (Mrs. John M.) Holcombe of Hartford, Connecticut, one each by Elizabeth Hart Jarvis Colt and Charlotte Jewell. The ladies were expressing their regret at being unable to attend the ceremony planned for June 17, 1899. On that day the Ruth Wyllys Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, transfered the deeds for property on Gold Street to the City of Hartford. The DAR, under Mrs. Holcombe's leadership, had transformed Gold Street from an alley to a wide avenue.
